Lakshadweep Islands: A Complete Guide to Permits, Resorts & More

Understanding The Beauty of Lakshadweep

The archipelago comprises 36 islands, 12 atolls, and three reefs. However, only 10 of these islands are inhabited, each with its own unique charm.

Minicoy Island, Agatti islands, Bangaram Island, Kavaratti islands, Kalpeni islands are among the most popular destinations.

Although all the islands are equally mystical and beautiful, they each offer a unique blend of tourist attractions.

How To Reach Lakshadweep Island

The only way to reach Lakshadweep is by air or sea via Kochi.

By Air✈️: Agatti and Bangaram are the two airports in Lakshadweep with regular flights connecting from Kochi to Kerala. Air India operates flights to Lakshadweep six days a week.

By Sea 🚢: You can opt for a scenic ship journey from Kochi.

Which Lakshadweep Islands Can You Visit?

After a permit, Indian visitors can visit all Lakshadweep Islands.

Foreign tourists, possessing a valid Passport and Visa for India, can explore only specific islands like Agatti, Kadmat, and the International Tourist Resort of Bangaram, upon obtaining permission from the Administrator.

Entry Permit Requirements

Entry Permit:

It is mandatory for all individuals, regardless of their nationality, to obtain an entry permit to visit the Lakshadweep Islands in India.

This rule applies to Indian nationals and foreign tourists, with the only exceptions being native Lakshadweep residents and government officials on duty.

Restricted Area Permit:

There are certain islands in Lakshadweep that have been marked as restricted areas due to their sensitive ecological and strategic importance. If someone wants to visit these restricted areas, they need to obtain a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) along with an Entry Permit.

The RAP can be obtained through authorized agencies, and there are specific guidelines and permissions that must be followed while visiting these restricted areas.
